Your job

Prevention Officer 
The Prevention Officer (also knows as safety coordinator) is authorized to provide solicited and unsolicited advice to employees, management and works council. You have a mandate for visiting workplaces and consulting external H&S experts. You'll be the safety coordinator for our logistics processes and will have a supporting role for the several stakeholders and business units. 

Responsibilities

Safety Expert:

  • Providing the employer and the works council with solicited and unsolicited advice with regard to improving the working conditions
  • Training the business unit operation leaders and also employees with safety responsibility about the safety rules and procedures on site. Ensuring the safe environment in the workplace
  • Participating in yearly safety audits for logistics
  • Coordinating the internal BHV organization, adapted for the emergency response plan
  • Holding periodical H&S meetings with management, discussing reported accidents and / or near- accidents, hazardous situations and corrective measures taken and the progress of the corrective action plan in response to the Risk assessment
  • Creating new visualizations for communications/training purposes
  • Monitoring the implementation of the established H&S policy
  • Monitoring the execution of the corrective action plans as they are recorded
  • Supporting and establishing guidelines for new machineries/installations

  • Acting as an escalation central reporting point for accidents, near accidents, unsafe situations

  • Acting as a source of information in the field of working conditions

Stakeholdermanagement:

  • Advising management and the works council with regard to working conditions
  • Provides contact between managers and the health and safety service or other experts
  • Create a functional link between the different business units in logistics (warehouse, e-logistics, service center). You'll have a supporting role for the business units

Networking

  • Acting as an intermediary between the organization and external experts. Coordinates the medical/safety service provider’s and other expert’s activities with regard to H&S activities within the organization
  • Being a first point of contact for these experts, provides them with the necessary information and makes arrangements with employees within the organization where necessary

  • Coordinating and actively participating in the regular area safety checks and safety related KPIs

What we expect from you

  • You have strong communication skills
  • Solution-oriented thinking and working
  • Accessible to colleagues and management
  • Well informed about the daily routine within the distribution center
  • Has sufficient insight into working conditions in the company and the way in which they are dealt with
  • Has knowledge of common H&S practices, legal requirements and other H&S related standards.
  • Is able to execute a risk assessment and provide a corrective action plan.
  • Fluent in Dutch and English
  • You are interested in logistics
  • You are at least 30 hours per week available
